The words sophistication, high quality, and made in the U.S.A are not often used to describe high-end jewelry.
Many companies outsource the production and manufacturing of their items to cut down on costs. Not so with Henry Designs, who manufacture their jewelry right here in New York. A company who has been around for over 30 years, Henry Designs maintains a tight control over the quality and craftsmanship of their design process, which allows them the ability to offer, structural integrity with every piece.
I spoke with Sean Perelstein, CEO of Henry Designs, who gave me great insight on the company and their mission.
Tifini: Firstly, who is Henry in Henry Designs?
Mr. Perelstein: Henry Designs is named for my father, Henry Perelstein, who is the founder and creator of our company.
Tifini: What sets your jewelry apart from others in the industry?
Mr. Perelstein: Henry Designs has not moved our manufacturing out of the United States. Even though it would cost less for us, it is important that we continue the quality that we’ve always had which only comes from manufacturing right here in Roslyn, New York. Even in the recession when many companies took a major loss, we continued to do well because our clientele still had access to us.
Tifini: What type of person wears a Henry Design piece, who is your target market?
Mr. Perelstein: A person who appreciates quality, and precious commodities.
We stand alone in purity and craftsmanship. Henry Designs uses 18k white, yellow, and rose gold, platinum and the highest quality of diamonds (D-F, VS-VVS+) as well as highest quality of Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds and color Diamonds. Our clients require this level quality, and we make it accessible to them through select high-end connoisseurs throughout the US.
Tifini: I love the real-life designs you use, so understated and brilliant at the same time. How does your design team choose and execute?
Mr. Perelstein: We use the actual item when designing. For instance, when looking at our 4ct. Dragonfly pendant from our Nature Series, even down to the finest detail of an actual dragonfly, our designers are able to handcraft this. Not possible if we shipped our manufacturing out of the state. Nor would customizable pieces. We still use wax molds, when handcrafting our pieces, almost unheard of now.
Tifini: Any special mentions in media?
Mr. Perelstien: We were recently found in the January 2012 issue of Elle Magazine.
Tifini: I appreciate your continued choice of manufacturing here in New York, the quality of your pieces, and mostly, your time in speaking with me, Thank You.
Mr. Perelstien: You are more than welcome, thank you for reaching out to us.’
