Marsha Ambrosius – So Far Away

If you’re not familiar with the British duo, Floetry then it’s time to introduce you to Marsha Ambrosius because her first solo single, “So Far Away” is not only a beautiful song, it’s a song with a message. Marsha-Ambrosius, urbanlandmedia.com

The video to the song is unexpected. It’s the first time I have seen two African-American gay men portrayed in a positive light in a music video. However, the deeper message of the video is when it ends in suicide. The video also ends with the 800 number of the suicide prevention life line. With the increase in suicides among gay men the message she presents is an honorable and a noble one.

Please share this video and help spread the word, “It’ Gets Better!”

That's all we have to say on the subject

One Response to “Marsha Ambrosius – So Far Away”

  • Marsha Ambrosius has always had the extraordinary gift to craft a beautiful song and to sing it with great emotion which in today’s “music” landscape, is a breath of fresh air. I commend her decision to make an accompanying video for her single “Far Away” that speaks to some of the issues that we as LGBT face on a daily basis but more importantly, to depict my love as a gay black man in a way that I’ve never seen before in popular mainstream media. EVER! As nice as it was to see, let’s remember the underlying message to the story as ultimately, it doesn’t end well.

It sickens me to know that we as a society have grown accustomed to seeing two black men kill each other vs. seeing two black men love each other and I tip my hat to you Marsha for using your talent and influence to portray us in a positive light. Bravo Marsha and well done!
