Lately I have been forced to focus on issues I myself avoid thinking about. Recently an site visitor asked, how I would define the perfect relationship?

Initially, I perceived the question to be an attack against my dating philosophy but later understood it wasn’t the question I had issues with but the fact that I avoid answering it for myself. I was really scared to face my own threatening thoughts of what I consider the perfect mate, relationship, friend, family or life.

I hate being scared, plus I’m trying to help others achieve dating success. So yesterday, I challenged myself and faced my own pursuit of perfection.

What is perfect? I am positive it’s not what is culturally defined as Barbie-Ken-doll beauty. Plus, I’ve never had the perfect body, perfect relationship, the perfect friend, the perfect Bloody Mary, or the perfect family. So why are we all in the pursuit of perfection?

Perfection is defined as something flawless. However, dating and people are far from flawless. I congratulate anyone who has the courage and optimism to chase perfection. “How tiring!” Regretfully, I need to inform you that you’re losing.

The problem with chasing “perfection” is you’re creating a personal crusade and war against “imperfections.” Instead of looking for a person to be perfect and infallible, why not look for someone who sees you as “perfect” just the way you are!

Ask yourself, have you ever considered that the things your mind finds ugly may be what your true self loves and desires most, to be loved equally for your imperfections, as you are for everything else. My mission is for each of you to “Date Smart… Date for Success,” which simply means, “Trust Yourself, Love Yourself, Believe in Yourself.” This is the process by which you’ll experience absolute beauty and finally able to see perfection at its deepest.
